Most driving licence testing centres (DLTCs) no longer serve test and card applicants who simply walk in. You reserve a slot first, usually through NaTIS online booking on NaTIS Online, the national portal run by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC). eNaTIS online booking means the same thing, since eNaTIS is the system behind that portal. In some provinces you still book at the testing centre itself.
This guide covers what you can book, how learner’s licence booking online works, how to check or cancel a booking, and what to do when no slots appear.

What can be booked online
NaTIS Online handles bookings or applications for:
- Driving licence card renewal, the RTMC licence renewal route.
- Learner’s licence tests.
- Driving test booking.
- Professional driving permit (PrDP) applications.
- Vehicle licence disc renewal, with delivery.
- A “request a slot” option, and reporting a damage-only crash.
A booking does not complete the service. You still attend in person for the eye test, fingerprints, photograph and the test itself.
When NaTIS or a DLTC booking is required
- Gauteng: gov.za states that Gauteng residents must apply online for a learner’s licence, and Gauteng centres generally use NaTIS online booking for tests and card renewals. - City of Cape Town: learner’s and driving tests are booked in person at the testing centre, and the date is then captured on eNaTIS.
- Other provinces: many centres still book at the counter, and some accept NaTIS Online bookings. Check with the centre you intend to use.
Learner’s licence booking online
Learner’s booking is the one people search for most, whether they type learners licence booking online, learners license booking, learners online booking or booking learners test. Where your centre uses NaTIS Online:
- Register or log in on NaTIS Online. See registering a NaTIS profile.
- Choose the learner’s licence test, your province and testing centre, then a date and time.
- Pay if the portal asks you to, and save the confirmation.
- On the day, bring your ID, two photographs, proof of address and form LL1. Applicants aged 65 or older also need a medical certificate (form MC).

How to make a booking
- Register a profile with your ID number, a cellphone number and an email address. See registering on NaTIS.
- Log in and choose the service, for example renewing your driving licence card or a learner’s test.
- Choose the province and testing centre, then an available date and time.
- Pay where the service asks for payment online. For licence card renewals the RTMC has said the online amount is the card production fee, not an extra booking charge.
- Save or print the confirmation and take it with you.
How to check your NaTIS booking
To check my booking on NaTIS, log in and open your dashboard, which shows the date, time and centre. If a booking is not listed, confirm you signed in with the same profile you booked on. See checking my NaTIS booking.
Documents and details to prepare
- Your ID number, and the ID document or smart card itself for the visit.
- A working cellphone number and email address for the profile and confirmation.
- Proof of residential address. See proof of address.
- Your existing licence card, learner’s licence or PrDP where relevant.
- The application form for the service, if the centre asks for it in advance. See traffic department forms.
Fees and payment checks
There is no separate booking fee. Test, licence and card fees are set by provinces and municipalities and differ between centres, so this guide does not quote them. Check the amount shown on NaTIS Online before paying, and never pay a person or website offering to secure a slot for you.
Changing or cancelling a booking
Cancel from your dashboard using the delete (trashcan) option. This is how to cancel a learners booking, a driving test or a licence renewal alike. The portal warns that a cancellation cannot be undone, so where you can, secure the new slot before releasing the old one.
Booking problems and no-slot situations
- No dates showing: no slots available.
- Page errors or payment failures: NaTIS booking not working.
- Cannot log in: NaTIS login problems.

Slots are often released in batches, so checking again early in the morning and widening your search to nearby centres both help.

Is NaTIS online booking free?
Yes. There is no booking fee. Where payment is taken online it is for the service itself, such as card production.
Can I book my learner’s test online outside Gauteng?
Some centres accept NaTIS Online bookings, but many still book at the counter. Check with your testing centre.
What if I miss my booking?
You will normally have to book a new slot, and any non-refundable amount already paid may be lost. Cancel in advance if you cannot attend.
Someone offered to get me a slot for a fee. Is that legal?
Treat it as a scam. Bookings are made on the official portal or at the centre.
Can this website book for me?
