In 2022, several traffic department vacancies were available in Gauteng. The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) advertised a Trainee Traffic Officer program (Ref No: RTMC/RTT/2022). This program, at NQF Level 6 and spanning three years, was open to interested candidates willing to commit to a three-year contract and undergo comprehensive training, including fitness and driving assessments, qualification and criminal record verification, and medical checks. The training program was primarily conducted in Gauteng or other suitable locations as determined by RTMC[1].
Municipal and provincial governments also published vacancies in traffic and transport-related departments, which included posts in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and other Gauteng municipalities[4].
